Asbestos Operations And Maintenance Programs: Strategies For Ensuring Employee Protection And Federal Compliance
About This Course:
Many companies have effective and compliant hazardous waste programs in place but they may be missing money-saving opportunities concerning universal waste regulations.

For most companies, especially those with older buildings, there is a sense that there could be asbestos-containing materials (ACM) somewhere—including in walls, cement, and adhesives and on floors, ceiling, and insulation—but as long as nothing is disturbed, nothing needs to be done.

This may be true, but at some point, the potential for exposure to asbestos fibers exists, for instance through construction activity, a refurbishment or renovation project, a new acquisition, even a minor maintenance task.

Where ACM could be disturbed there's great risk for potential exposure. It's critical, therefore, for organizations to have in place an asbestos operations and maintenance program that encompasses training, cleaning, work practices, and surveillance so buildings are in good condition.

Keep in mind, too, that asbestos-containing materials are regulated under a slew of federal laws, such as the EPA's Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act, the Asbestos Information Act, the Clean Water Act, the Safe Drinking Water Act, as well as under OSHA's asbestos general and construction standards and through the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Join us for an in-depth webinar where the presenter, a seasoned EHS professional who has helped other companies proactively address asbestos concerns, will provide participants with a proven, practical strategy to develop and implement a compliant and liability avoiding asbestos operations and maintenance program. He will identify the various approaches available for managing all aspects of ACM and are available and recommend those that are most cost effective, compliant, and meet the organization's risk management requirements.
