Safety Training For Non-English-Speaking Workers: How To Overcome Language Barriers And Master Your Toolbox Talks

SKU:WT-1001695
Format: Webinar
Description:

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) requires you to present your safety training “in a manner or in language that is understandable to employees.” Those responsible for the safety of employees with limited proficiency in English understand how tough it can be to meet that requirement.

If you employ workers who don’t speak English well or at all, your ability to train them on your safety policies and procedures is affected by how well you recognize and address language barriers and cultural differences that can cause misunderstanding. Such factors often impact safety, as well as productivity, and can unnecessarily divide the workforce.

You can learn how to recognize and overcome language barriers by joining us for our webinar, Safety Training for Non-English-Speaking Workers. Our presenter, Steven St. Laurent, is a seasoned safety professional who trains non-English speaking employees to work safely in industry, retail, and construction. During this webinar, he can teach you methods for training non-English speakers to work safely.

Learning Objectives:

  • Avoid the “don’ts” and practice the “dos” when communicating with non-English speakers
  • Use 3 practical tools for communication and personal interaction
  • Distinguish “stereotypes” from “cultural norms” to overcome cultural misunderstandings
  • Master safety training for staff with varying proficiencies in English
  • Connect with employees when their verbal communication is limited
  • Model your program after successful safety training techniques others have used
  • Overcome language barriers during toolbox talks, safety meetings, and OSHA training classes
  • Find new resources to help you train non-English-speaking workers, and more!
Register to attend our webinar now so you can resolve language barriers and provide all of your workers with the training they need to identify hazards and avoid injury when working.
