About This Course:
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) has issued a final rule that will require commercial motor vehicle drivers to use electronic logging devices to record their time on the road under the hours-of-service regulations, in an effort to reduce injuries and deaths resulting from crashes involving large trucks and buses.

The rule, which replaces paper logs with electronic logging devices (ELDs), was finalized on December 10, 2015, with a transition period set to end on December 18, 2017 to give organizations time to make the switch over. That means motor carriers now have less than a year to acquire and register their ELDs.

To determine the best and most cost-effective approach for ELD rule compliance, motor carriers must consider the following:
  • How the ELD rule applies and whether any exceptions apply
  • The type of user documentation that must be onboard a commercial vehicle
  • The value of having the ELD on a smartphone or other wireless device
  • Record retention requirements for record of duty status (RODS) data
  • The various options for ELD electronic data transfer
  • How to develop an ELD malfunctions and data diagnostic events process
  • How to ensure proper ELD registration and certification
  • How to apply the appropriate ELD technical specifications in selecting your ELD units and system
Join us for a webinar when safety expert Ryan Bruner will reveal whether and how the ELD rule applies to your company, and what to do in the coming months to develop and roll out an ELD program that meets your compliance obligations under the FMCSA’s rule.

You’ll learn:
  • Key requirements under the FMCSA’s ELD rule and how those provisions apply to your organization
  • How to tell if the limited exemptions under the ELD rule apply
  • Essential record retention requirements for record of duty status (RODS) data
  • Best practices for handling ELD malfunctions and data diagnostic events
  • Tips for developing and rolling out a comprehensive and compliant ELD program
  • And much more!
