Description:

Learn best practices for confined space rescue in general and construction industries that comply with OSHA’s final rule and NFPA 350.

If your organization has permit-required confined spaces, you likely have developed a confined space entry program to keep your workers safe. But, even if workers enter confined spaces safely, things could still go wrong. And, if the rescue team is not adequately staffed, equipped, or trained, the rescuers, as well as the trapped worker(s) will be at increased risk.

Many organizations struggle to decide if they should train and assign their own workers to perform rescue, or contract with a rescue service. What happens if you hire a service and they aren’t available exactly when you need them? Are you sure they can perform rescue safely given the special confined space hazards at your facility? On the other hand, do you have the time and resources to train your in-house rescue squad and maintain the materials they need for rescue, and to refresh their training annually?

If you’re responsible for workers entering permit-required confined spaces, be sure that your written program(s), procedures, training, and emergency response planning are up to date to protect your employees and achieve full compliance with the OSHA requirements.

Join us to learn how to design and manage an effective permit-required confined space rescue program.

You’ll learn:

  • How to properly identify your organization’s permit-required confined spaces, and evaluate the hazards involved
  • Specific requirements for permit-required confined space rescue(s) in OSHA regulations 1910.146(k) and 1926.1211
  • How to identify potential gaps in your existing rescue program
  • Confined space rescue best practices found in NFPA 350
  • Criteria to decide whether to provide rescue servers in-house or contract
  • How to evaluate rescue and emergencies services contractors
  • Typical mistakes and oversights that occur in confined space rescue programs
  • Examples of when a confined space rescue did not succeed—and why
  • Tips for working with outside resources like the fire department to augment your confined space rescue plan
  • Strategies for selecting the most appropriate confined space rescue equipment for your organization
  • How to establish a comprehensive training program for your confined space rescue team

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
