Description:

Alert: OSHA’s newly released final rule will make substantive changes to existing fall protection requirements for general industry.

The rule, which covers slips, trips, and falls (i.e., walking and working surfaces) in the general industry workplaces, is expansive. It covers not only floors, but also potential falls from ladders, scaffolds, towers, outdoor advertising signs, and similar surfaces where accidents could result in serious injury or death.

The rule has been under development since 1990. The goal of this updated rule is to protect workers from falls, a leading cause of work-related injuries and fatalities, by establishing requirements for personal fall protection systems. The rule is also intended to increase consistency between construction, maritime, and general industry standards, and eliminate any duplication.

As a result, the final rule requires equipment and procedural changes in millions of workplaces across the United States.

Join us when Adele Abrams, a seasoned safety lawyer, will discuss and analyze the changes that come along with OSHA’s newest rule revisions. Ms. Abrams will provide information that will help you keep your safety program compliant.

Learning Objectives:

  • The key differences between existing standards and the new requirements
  • How the new standards compare with current national consensus standards
  • Which OSHA case law finding and policy documents have been altered as a result of the standard modifications
  • What enforcement initiatives are likely to result from OSHA’s adoption of the new rule
  • And much more!

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
