Description:

Slips, trips, and falls (STFs) are some of the most common causes of workplace accidents. OSHA reports that they account for 15 percent of all accidental workplace deaths, and a report by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health Slip, Trip and Fall Prevention for Healthcare Workers indicates that STFs account for 25 percent of all injuries occurring in a healthcare setting.

According to available data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the incidence rate of lost workday injuries from STFs in a healthcare environment is 90% greater than the average rate for all other private industries combined. This is in part to many of the hazards commonly present in healthcare settings that contribute to the high accident rate, such as tripping hazards due to medical apparatus like hoses, cords, and tubing, and slipping hazards like contaminant spills onto the floor.

Join us for an in-depth webinar exploring the most common causes of STF hazards for workers at hospitals, medical clinics, and doctor’s offices, and what you can do to minimize risks. Our presenter will provide a comprehensive understanding of how to identify and assess STF hazards typically found in healthcare facilities and develop effective programs for mitigating associated exposures and injuries.

You’ll learn:

  • Common causes of slips, trips, and falls in a healthcare setting
  • How to minimize the risks that housekeeping, accidental spills, weather-related events, maintenance, medical equipment, wear and tear, and other factors may present
  • How to identify potential trouble areas by analyzing root causes of previous walking/working-related accidents
  • The key elements of a successful investigatory process, including who should investigate, how to document the findings, and how to ensure follow through on identified corrective actions
  • What you need from senior management to be successful at reducing and eliminating the risk of slips, trips, and falls in your medical facility
  • How to effectively train healthcare staff on avoiding STF risks
  • Best practices for reporting, tracking, and completing identified corrective actions

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts:

Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form of training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
