In the U.S., older workers are one of the fastest growing segments of the workforce.
The aging of the American people is a social phenomenon that is affecting many aspects of our culture, not the least of which is the workplace. For many SH&E professionals it presents challenges to the ongoing effort to reduce injuries and illnesses that are new and relatively unchartered.
From the loss of visual sharpness to slower reaction times to physical limitations, an older workforce faces different challenges. Because of this, strategies are needed for minimizing incidents in this aging workforce. Not only to protect employees, but to protect organizations as well.
Learning Objectives
By attending this training session, you will be able to:- Specify five statistical measures that demonstrate the aging of the workforce.
- Cite four key functional areas where the challenges of an aging workforce become apparent.
- Identify five strategies that can be used to modify the workplace for an aging workforce.

Jay brings more than 25 years of human resource and safety leadership, management, consulting, and training to the industry. He travels nationally and internationally working with organizations and individuals to reduce incidents, risks, and costs through safety culture change and development.
He is a member of the National Safety Council (NSC), American Society for Training and Development (ASTD), Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), National Management Association (NMA) and the National Speakers Association (NSA).
