Avoiding Common Mistakes in Slip, Trip, and Fall Prevention

Date / Time: Recorded
Format: Audio Conference
Description:

Avoiding Common Mistakes in Slip, Trip, and Fall Prevention
Is your organization faced with slip, trip, and fall issues that just won’t go away? Have you been dealing with similar incidents and losses for years even though you’ve spent significant time and money on prevention? If so, you are not alone!

It is estimated that slips, trips, and falls account for 17% of disabling work injuries and are 15 to 20 percent of all workers' compensation costs. In fact, the Bureau of Labor Statistics estimates that there were over 234,000 non-fatal slips, trips, and falls last year (unfortunately, there were also 789 fatalities).

It is easy to see that slips, trips, and falls are routinely one of the top causes of injuries in workplaces. They also subtract from a company’s bottom line due to medical and workers’ comp insurance, lost productivity and retraining costs.

Learning Objectives:

In this program we will confront some of the most common but often unrecognized mistakes made in slip, trip, and fall prevention, and learn how to help employees avoid making them.
  • Identifying working environments where slip, trip, and fall hazards are most likely to occur
  • Identifying existing and potential slip, trip, and fall hazards
  • How to eliminate employee shortcuts and other common safety mistakes that lead to painful and sometimes fatal falls
  • How to train employees in risk reduction and hazard recognition of slip, trip, and fall hazards
  • Tips for ladder safety, housekeeping, proper footwear, and hazard recognition and elimination
  • Identify tools available to eliminate and reduce risks to injuries

About Webcasts / Audio Conferences / Podcasts: Webcasts, audio conferences, and podcasts are presentations that you attend via the Internet, phone, or mobile device at a specified date and time for "live" versions, or at your convenience for "recorded" and "On-Demand" versions.

The live versions are interactive, meaning that participants can ask questions in real time, plus are a very cost-effective form a training because 1) you receive fast, convenient learning without any out-of-office time; 2) you can invite as many colleagues as you'd like to listen in on a single phone line; 3) you incur no travel expenses; and 4) you and your colleagues are back at work immediately after the session ends!

And though with recorded versions you do lose the ability to ask questions, you gain the ability to hear the presentation numerous times and to share it with others in your office.

Handout materials and the phone number for live presentations are made available to you prior to the event via email from the presenter and from the "MyAccount" link on the menu bar. Copies of the presentations are included with recorded versions.
